The intent of a Checking device is to control both the quality of a produced part
and the process capability of its tool.
This Generic Build Specification is to specify Ford‘s requirements for all end customer appearance related parts/assemblies and guide each supplier of a component to fulfill this demands. This specification will support our suppliers to control their quality and costs related to the fixture build.
All mentioned requirements inherent this specification are the minimum
requirements to build a checking fixture according Ford‘s expectation on
part quality.
The supplier has to create a GIS (gauging information specification) and a CAD drawing prior build of the fixture. This GIS has to be signed off by the responsible Ford-D&R engineer prior CAD design. The CAD design then has to be signed off prior build of a checking fixture. The checking fixture will be checked according its required build specifications and a robust R&R process.
