( contact = tactile CMM with probes; noncontact or no tactile = Laser or Camera)
Part fixed by clamps not in line with GD&T / RPS
Not allowed for Trim Part check
S/F > Set Up Fixture for CMM (contact and noncontact system)
( contact = tactile CMM with probes; noncontact or no tactile = Laser or Camera)
Part fixed by RPS following GD&T / RPS
No soft alignment

N/F > Nominal Fixture

Nominal environment all around the part based on CAD data

Nominal environment must be disassembled or pivot off for Process Control or CMM measurements
for geometric verification.

Dial indicator can be used, if required (PC,SC,HIC)
Nominal rails are not allowed to reference the part by any kind of distortion or interference
condition, regardless if it’s a design intended result after final assembly. (refer to page 2, 1st
sentence).
