Vehicle Customized Precision Gages for High Tolerance Safety Components
Reference to the vehicle coordinate system is made by flanged bushings respectively globes for
alignment (“Datums” are the contact surfaces for the components).
The bases which are
incorporated into the base plate have to be wear-resistant and, if possible, impact-protected. For
this purpose three appropriately secured flanged bushings (Picture 4.2-1) with grinded flanges
must be used.
If the base plate is not parallel to a plane of the vehicle coordinate system, globes for alignment must be used for alignment. The position of all flanged bushings resp. globes for
alignment must be indcated in all three axes (X; Y; Z) on the gauge.
Additional net references on the gauge are allowed. However, it should be noted, that for
measuring the gauge at KIRCHHOFF Automotive, the datums defined in the part drawing are used
for alignment. The CAD-Data provided by KIRCHHOFF Automotive are always used as the basis for
gauge design and measuring.
